Agreed, 7.1 CD would be much better for this purpose. It includes "native" CD and Mouse drivers, unlike 6.22. Although it is your choice, MS-DOS would probably not be a very good use of that computer. My suggestion would be to install Windows 2000 or even (shudder) Millenium Edition to truly experience the computers of old.
